Venture Capital comes under the spotlight

London: Thursday, March 2nd, 2023: More than 120 guests attended the launch of Francesca ‘Frankie’ Smith’s ‘Home Grown Investor Series’ yesterday, the first of a quarterly programme of exclusive events that will focus on a wide range of financial and investment topics.
On Wednesday, March 1st Frankie staged her inaugural event for Home Grown to an audience of businessmen and businesswomen at the private members club in London for entrepreneurs and investors.
She chaired a panel which included Simon King, a partner in the Octopus Ventures Team; Raj Saxena, Managing Director of Velocity Capital; James Faulkner, Managing Director of Vala Capital and Christiana Stewart-Lockhart, Director General of the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA).
With vast experience within the venture capital sector, the panel shared their insights on investment opportunities for 2023 aligned to the challenges of the current economic climate and also examined the move towards sustainable focused VC investments. The audience also heard about the range of different venture capital available to businesses, including Seed Enterprise Investment Schemes (SEIS), Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS) and Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) – and what each means for investors and how could form part of tax-planning strategy.

The second event in the Investor Series will be staged on May 23, 2023, at the Home Grown Club in Great Cumberland Place, London. Full details will be released ahead of the evening.
